This album brings together 30 pieces of piano music composed in 2022-23.
The first 6 tracks draw inspiration from walking the West Highland Way in the spring of 2023, such as Ba Cottage, On Rannoch Moor; Buachaille Etive Mor, The Great Herdsman of Etive and Lairig Mor, The Great High Pass. The following 24 were written each day during Advent 2022, covering 12 major keys and 12 minor keys, with a variety of moods, feelings and styles.

Ba Cottage, On Rannoch Moor

Inspired by the ruins of a remote cottage in one of Europe's last wildernesses, spotted while walking the West Highland Way in the spring of 2023.

Garadhban Forest

The name is taken from a small wooded area where we camped north of Drymen, the melody is based on Scottish folk tunes.

Buachaille Etive Mor, The Great Herdsman of Etive

An ambitious piece, inspired by the imposing peak near Glencoe, visible from many angles as you walk the West Highland Way.

Glencoe in the Springtime

A piece with a powerful underlying energy, conveying the excitement of walking Glencoe in the bright spring air.

Lairig Mor, The Great High Pass

Crossing through the great high pass, glimpsing Ben Nevis, and knowing the end of the West Highland Way is near, this piece has optimism and air.

Propelled by Tears and Tunnocks

Written after walking the West Highland Way, this piece is inspired by the long miles through all weathers on wild landscapes.

First footsteps

Boldness grows

Sunrise will come

Skip and jump

Best is yet to come

Bee in your bonnet

Let there be light

Cheerful?

The sky's the limit

Meandering

Sledging time

Close of day

Sombre, no?

Up with the bell

Cold blows the wind

The fire still burns

March of the monkeys

Flowing to the sea

Having a laugh

Get to Dens

When the light fades

Sailing on an endless ocean

Into the darkness

Jump up
